Caring for the entire family from newborns to adults is the foundation of our services. CFP provides general health care for illness and minor injury, as well as a wide range of physical check-ups and annual exams.
We offer both alternative medicine and traditional treatment options. Whether you see a nurse practitioner, doctor, or acupuncturist, we can treat your whole family for acute or chronic conditions and provide ongoing support for optimal health and prevention of illness.
Our family practitioners, Dr. Elliot Trester and Kate Wanstrom, RN, FNP, can care for your entire family, from newborns to adults. We pride ourselves on a short wait time before being seen and can usually see you for acute conditions on the same day if you are already a patient here. Our services include: physicals, well-children checks, annuals, sick and injury visits.
We specialize in maintaining health and vitality through all stages of a woman's life. We offer alternative treatments for menopause including natural hormone replacement with our nurse practitioners, herbal and Chinese medicines, and acupuncture. Along with routine care and pap smears, our practitioners are skilled in treating PMS, osteoporosis, endometriosis and numerous other conditions. Women may choose to see more than one practitioner, such as a nurse practitioner, along with an acupuncturist, to maximize their well-being.
CFP offers Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), which is the treatment of hormone deficiencies caused by menopause. BHRT uses hormones that are identical to the endogenous hormones found in the human body. BHRT differs from conventional hormone replacement therapy, which includes animal-derived and synthetic hormones that are similar to, but not identical, to the human hormones that would be present in a healthy individual.
The primary bioidentical hormones replaced in human females, estradiol and progesterone, are available in both FDA-approved and individualized pharmacy-compounded products. CFP has a great relationship with compounding pharmacies. Visit our Resources page to see a list of pharmacies that provide compounded medicines.
Our Women's Nurse Practitioners include Connie Ryan, RNC, WHNP and Kate Wanstrom, RN, FNP. Services include Annual Exams, Hormone Replacement Therapy with traditional or bioidentical hormones, colposcopies for abnormal pap smears with discounts for students, Birth control methods, including IUD insertions, diaphragm, and Fem Cap fittings are available. We also have a full array of herbal products and supplements to provide support for various conditions and symptoms.
Mild Depression, Stress or Anxiety
We offer a variety of approaches to treating depression, stress, and anxiety. From herbs, nutrition, acupuncture, and lifestyle changes to thoughtful use of traditional anti-depressants, we will help you to regain your confidence and return to leading a balanced, satisfying life.
We provide ultrasound services at our office through midwife referrals. Ultrasound can determine the sex of the baby, look for potential problems, and determine position and gestational age of the baby. Ultrasound hard copy pictures and a DVD image file are provided on the day of your visit and a medical profile is sent to your midwife.
Prenatal ultrasound appointments at CFP are available every first and third Thursday of the month.
CFP's confidential STD screening package is non-invasive (no Q-tips or speculums) and is done through blood and urine tests during our walk-in lab hours (see below). The package includes testing for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, HIV1, HIV2, Hepatitis B & Hepatitis C.
The package includes a follow-up consultation visit with one of our health care practitioners to receive and discuss your results.

Our experienced acupuncturists treat numerous conditions including stress symptoms, depression and anxiety, allergies, pain relief, infertility, and women's health issues. Along with acupuncture treatments, our practitioners have a full Chinese herbal pharmacy and formulate herbs tailored to your individual needs. Recently Acupuncture has gained recognition for its ability to increase fertility and assist with many of the conditions that contribute to it. Interestingly, Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture have been successfully treating fertility and Women's Health concerns for thousands of years. At Central Family Practice we are delighted to have Sadie Minkoff, MSOM, L.Ac., FABORM as our resident expert in Oriental Reproductive Medicine. Some of the conditions that she commonly treats include: unexplained infertility, male factor, endometriosis, PCOS, repeated pregnancy loss, premature ovarian failure, gestational diabetes, hypertension and labor preparation.
