Kate Wanstrom

Kate has been a nurse for 22 years and a family nurse practitioner for 13 years. Kate believes in helping people take charge of their health using a number of different modalities and approaches. She was born in Colorado and has lived all over the U.S. Kate moved to Texas in 1990, spent ten years in Austin and then seven years in Marfa, Texas where she played a very big role in establishing a non-profit, community-owned medical clinic.

In April 2007, Kate and her family became Austinites again and are very happy to be back. Kate has a great interest in working to change our current healthcare system and she’s politically involved in making this happen. Affordable healthcare for all is a passion of hers, and according to Kate, it’s one of many reasons why she’s so thrilled to work at Central Family Practice.

“I am the step-mom of a very special person who has multiple medical needs and a serious developmental disability. She is the joy and the challenge of my life. I am married to her father, an amazing and brilliant person.” For fun, Kate and her family hang out at home, cooking and enjoying friends and family, and dancing in the kitchen.
